Counting

This morning I told Ian to get a diaper and meet me on my bed to get dressed.  He tends to be more cooperative when he has a part in the process, so I put a pile of diapers within his reach so he can pick one when it is changing time.

Today he wasn't sure what diaper he wanted.  Yes, they are all the same but when you are two and have a choice, you must check out all the options before you decide.

He pulled the whole pile of about 10 diapers onto the floor and started taking one after another off the stack and checking it out.

As Ian pulled a diaper off the stack he would say "one", then he would pull another off and say "two."  The third diaper he pulled off the stack he said "one" and, as you might guess, the fourth diaper he said "two."

He went on the rest of the morning counting things.  One. Two. One. Two. One. Two.

By Joe!  I think that he might really have a handle on this counting thing!

I am going to set a goal to see if I can teach him to count to five by Christmas.  I think he is ready to learn.
