Happy Halloween!

We waited until the last minute to carve pumpkins. I haven't carved a pumpkin in the last decade, and I wasn't really into it so I went for the speed record while Chris tried to carve a cool pumpkin. My pumpkin took somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes total to make and it certainly looked like it. Ian was made to sit and watch from afar while the big knives where being used.

It took some grease, a few sedatives, a little cursing under my breathe and a shoe horn to get Ian the tantrum maker into his costume. He was less than amused about the idea of leaving the house so we bribed him with a peanut butter cup. One he got to the first house giving out candy he was hooked and totally got the idea. We would go up to the house and he would take the candy in his hand and examine it before putting it into his bucket. Since not many houses on our block turned on their lights early it was a fast trip up and down the block.

Then Ian did his best to get a sugar coma by sampling his bounty when we got home. My grown up in Detroit became pretty apparent when I examined each piece of candy for tampering with before Ian got to dive in tongue first.

I found Ian on my bed watching TV while I got his bath ready. He must have been coming down from his sugar high. Thankfully while Ian was busy Chris hid the candy in a cabinet so it would be out of site and out of mind until tomorrow.
