That's Mine!

Ian has discovered that things can belong to him and him alone, in what I call the that's mine's.

I took him with me to the grocery store on Sunday and he sat like a good little boy in the cart as I pushed him around the store getting the items we needed. Toward the end of our trip I happened past the hummus and found it was on sale so I decided to get some and a bag of pita chips. Not thinking ahead I plopped the bag of chips next to Ian in the cart seat. He instantly put one hand on the bag and began clinging to it. I realized that he would crush them so I took the bag away. That is when it happened...he screeched so loudly wanting that bag back. Being the non-confrontational person that I am I gave in to not cause a big scene in the store and grabbed a second bag of chips so I could actually have some that would make it home in one piece.

When we got to the cash register he wouldn't give up the bag then either. After checking out we got to the car and Ian hollered the whole time he was being strapped into his car seat because he didn't have his hands on the bag of chips. He carried that darn bag of chips all the way home and into the house, where he then proceeded to sit on it. At this point I took it away so he could throw his fit in the comfort and privacy of our own home.

This sadly isn't the first time he had the that's mine's. Over the weekend he was very possessive of the Babies R Us ad paper. When I went to take that away from him he screamed that scream that starts out silent and red faced and turns into the most horrifyingly loud noise you have ever heard come from something so small.

I guess it is time to work on that little temper of his. I wonder where he gets it from? It couldn't possibly be from me. ;-)
